Phisical Evidence that succession will be hardFrom these photos we can see that not only were towns destroyed, but soil was contaminated, trees were scorched, people decimated, and countrysides ravenged by fire. (Secondary succession since there were people living there before the disaster.) Even today, the area that once was the proud city of Hiroshima still remains a ruin. The small amount of plant life that attemtps to survive, either is very limited and dies quickly, or is heavily effected by the radiation. Causing rare genetic mutation. Animals that have been seen scampering in the area also have developed genetic mutations. Humans that attempt to survive in this area also expirience genetic mutations as a result of the radiation. This devastating event has caused a large amout of destruction. The area still shows very little signs of recovery. In many place the radiation is worsening the situation. The pictures on the bottom left was taken shortly after the explosion in the year 1945. Yet the photos on the bottom right were taken in the year 2011. At the very bottom, those two photos are pictures of the exact same place. As you can see, the area has not recovered, and if anything, the amount of rumble has piled up and increased. Recovery from this terrible disaster will not be quick. Estimates say that we won't see the land recover very much in our life time, and other estimates say that the land will never recover from this tragic event caused by the hands of humans.
